Portal 01 was an act of becoming. Through the process of intentionally creating a space to hold deep presence with the fear and shame of being an artist, which were held in my body — of being seen, judged and projected upon, of taking up space, of centring myself and my desires in my work — I was able to process these challenging emotions, regulating myself through repetitive movement, breath, stillness and noise.
